Australian Cattle Dog Club of Finland

Suomen Australiankarjakoirat ry is the official Australian Cattle Dog Club of Finland. The aim of the club is to enhance and maintain the breeding and training of pure bred Australian Cattle Dogs as a versatile working and herding dog as well as a companion for different dog activities. This aim is to be achieved through following closely the developments of the breed and making new openings concerning the breed and also marking down and publicizing working dog-, obedience-, agility and conformation test results, and also by arranging obedience and herding trials, mental tests, agility tests etc. To the owners and judges of the breed the club organizes educative and informative occasions, and also a magazine KARJIS is being published and sent to the members of the club. The breeding committee supervises and guides the breeding of Finnish Australian Cattle Dogs.

The founding meeting was held October 29th 1988 and the Club was put into the Finnish Club Registry in September 8th 1989. The Australian Cattle Dog Club of Finland functions as a member of the Finnish Kennel Club (Suomen Kennelliitto) and Finnish Working Dog Club (Suomen Palveluskoiraliitto) in order to enhance the breed in every way. The founding members of the Club thought the primary goal of the Club was to gain the entry to working dog trials to the Australian Cattle Dog and to further develop the breed as a herding and working dog. Australian Cattle Dogs achieved the right of entry in Finnish working dog trials in the year 1990.

By contacting any of the active members of the Club you can get more information on the breed, the ancestry of the dogs, trials, tests and shows as well as training possibilities. The person in charge of dealing with litters can give advice on purchasing a puppy or a mature dog from Finland.
